Not unless they were a complete layer directly under her skin - UV would damage any over-lying tissues as normal.

There's a novel about that. The Child Garden, by [amazon] Geoff Ryman. Except they were purple rather than green.

I suspect that even walking around totally naked on very sunny days would be impractical.

IIRC, the human body uses about 150W of energy at rest. I seem to recall some figure like 50W per square metre available from sunshine.
