Just a reminder that because the UK police have caught some people that they suspect of planning to implement explosions on planes we are now at a CRITICAL "terror threat level".

This means that we are required to be CRITICAL of anything relating to the "terror threat".

For myself, I'm grateful that they're informing the public that the suspected terrorists are suspected of using chemical explosives instead of normal, non-scary explosives[1].

I'm also deeply grateful that they've forbidden you from taking reading material onto the planes, thus preventing the spread of dangerous, subversive materials between countries.

[1] Yes, I'm aware there are other kinds. Most aren't.

Indeed. Bu the point about the hand luggage scare is that passengers would be doing some chemical formulation to make explosives out of chemicals that wouldn't normally be recognised as potentially dangerous. (Especially by the sniffer dogs/technology.)

Of course, if I was doing this, I'd insist on going first class. Not only should I be getting the very best when on a fatal final flight, but I'm far from sure that I could set up a proper lab bench in cattle class.

Non-chemical explosives? Huh? I'm assuming you don't mean nuclear, so what does that leave? High pressure gasses?
