Once a year the Jómsvikingar meet up to revitalise the sun in an ancient ceremony on Castle Mound.

How does there come to be a Cambridge contingent of Jómsvikingar?

Oh, excellent stuff, thanks for that. However did I miss out on this stuff as an undergraduate? Never mind.

If I remember the Reeve's pronouncement correctly then it is the shape of "an alien camera", but I could be misremembering.
All present declared that it was the best sun they had seen.

An extraterrestrial camera, to be precise. And rather splendid indeed.
And welcomed/brought into being with an incantation in British Sign Language, which was most impressive.

COOL!
Can you book next year's sunrise for, say, 6pm, so I can come too?

I'm afraid that you'll have to ask the Z-Reeve about that.
On the other hand it has been the previous policy of Reeves that while a later time might be more convenient in some regards it is generally better not to cause major change to the diurnal cycle.
The odd calendrical modification has occurred in the past however, but noone else noticed...
