4. Defoe, Gideon. The Pirates! in an adventure with Scientists

Despite the fact that "Ardal O'Hanlon" (whomsoever they are) says that this book is A short, deliriously funny novel about incredibly stupid pirates and ham, … I found that this book got a little wearing by the end. It is funny, and it is about incredibly stupid pirates and ham but neither of those things excuse the excuse for plotting it sees in places, or the characterisation.

Still, over all I enjoyed it, and it was full of Pirates! Yarrrrrrr!

Ardal O'Hanlon is Dougal from Father Ted! I'm also quite a fan of his stand-up (when I see it on TV, that is).

Aaah! That's who he is - I was sure I recognised the name. I think he does some stuff on Radio 4 from time to time, too...
