For a start; Bush is not the fault of Democrat voters, and 59million people did vote for him. I doubt many of them are sorry; and so they shouldn't be -- that's the way democracy works.
Secondly "Believe me, almost half of us are very goddamn sorry." — I don't. Over 40% of the eligible voters in the US didn't even vote! So, at most, even assuming the ridiculous premise that all Democrat voters are taking on the failings of their democratically elected leader upon themselves only 30% of Americans are sorry at all. It's possible that some non-voters are sorry; but I suspect in general they're no less sorry about Bush than they would be about Kerry otherwise they would have voted.
