Can I safely assume that anyone who would get pissed off about my turning on comment styles here already knows about style=mine and uses it?

(That is the feature whereby comments always appear in your style, whether that's a customised style or one of the defaults)

I certainly use it. (After I went to all that effort to design a comment style that was significantly better than the default one, it'd be silly of me not to use it everywhere I possibly could!)

Indeed, that being the main motivatin for wanting to turn comment styles on :-).

Grail isn't up to competent comments yet, but I'm never going to make it work if I don't have incompetent Grail comments staring me in the face...

I note in passing that the LJ profile option to force style=mine appears to Not Work with lynx.

How can it 'not work'? *confused*

OK, it appears what I actually mean is "it only works from my friends page". Which is Not Good Enough, dammit!

Yes, I find that frustrating from work, since lnr_at_work is usually reading lnr's friend's page. And the comments count in the URL doesn't work either, which is even more frustrating.

I expect you *can* edit the style of a friendspage to add style=mine to all of the comment links, which forces all readers of the friendspage to read in their own style...

That should, in theory, be possible I guess. If the original journal is a paid one.

I'm pretty sure you can change comment-links in the overrides box (because you could add the ?nc= bit when they stopped using it for a while), but it's more complicated that way and I can't remember how to do it offhand.

Can style=mine be used with S1? I don't see it ...

I'm still using S1, and style=mine will bring up the usual, old comments page. I use it; I think I just ticked a tickybox somewhere to make it happen.

Ah, never mind; I'm a muppet and didn't find editinfo.bml.

That's a bloody annoying place to put that. I remember I ticked it some time back to see what it would do, and then didn't see it doing anything different; apparently none of my friends were using unique styles at the time. Now everyone's talking about it, I couldn't remember where to go to turn it back *off* again, to see the difference. Silly me, looking in the 'modify journal' part :P

I know about style=mine but reserve the right to be sarcastic about eye-gouging nonetheless.

I don't think that Grail is currently eye-gouging, although some of the colours don't quite go together. Well, I'll turn it on and then I can start fiddling with it as I go on...
