Are you:

The answer to the first is "both", obviously. (I chose "Northener" grudgingly...)

I'm presuming Northener includes those of us from the Frozen North.

Hm. Lots of people around here insist on calling me a yankee, cuz I'm not from the south. Which makes me from the north. But being as you're talking about British north/south, would my north be different from yours? I could screw up some results if it is ;)

I think the UK N/S divide is quite different from the US one. Here, the South is more prosperous, and attracts the stereotype of being full of stuck-up snobs. The North is less prosperous, and attracts the stereotype of being full of rowdy oiks.

Of course, this is a gross oversimplification of both the sterotypes and the reality, and London is something of a special case...

Ah, you're just the opposite of us, then. The north is where the pretentious yankees are, the south is where the low-class hicks are. Isn't that cute?

So 9.4% of people haven't read Asterix. They are all female, with no significant N/S bias.

Although Mark has now spoilt the gender correlation :-) What were you hoping to demonstrate anyway?
I've seen someone else do a similar poll, trying to find out the correlation between living in Cambridge, London or elsewhere with being broken, not broken or sometimes broken. I think these sorts of polls, if having only two or three degrees of freedom, need to be worded in a form which makes any correlations immediately obvious i.e. for this one, have 8 separate options, of which each person picks one, of the form "Male/Southerner/Has read Asterix", "Male/Northener/Has read Asterix" etc. Then you wouldn't need to work it all out laboriously by hand!

Hmmm... You'd have to do correlation in lj polls by hand.

Unless... I see a screen-scraping script coming on.

Not sure about my answer to the first one. I was born and raised in the North, but lived in London area for over 30 years - what does that make me? (Answer from my Northern school-friends traitor)

Answered Northerner anyway.

Am I one of the few female Asterix fans then?

It was all my fault, M was calling me uneducated for not having read asterix, and I replied with "Oh, it's just one of those Southern boys things" (I can win a lot of arguments that way, being a northern girl ;-) ) Anyway, we decided to find out if this was true or not
