OK, so I'm innocently browsing the web.

Using google in fact, like I do quite often, and I've got quite used to saying "Deny" to certain cookies.

When I get this, rather outsized, dialogue box popped up:




Oh, does it?

Well, it can't. Can't stand these long-term-tracking cookies… :-).

But more importantly, what kind of hostname is that, and what kind of stunt DNS server are they serving it from?

Hmm... WTF? Clearly that's a way to link current IP and session ID, but surely they could do that from standard cookies anyway?

That particularly cookie usually turns up from an obvious kind of google hostname (e.g. www.google.co.uk or mail.google.co.uk). I do find that some google cookies have benefit (and little tracking value), so simply DENY these kinds by hand. What I'd really like is a Firefox cookie scripting module...
