2005/12/14 15:16:00 - Age of LJ users
Following discussion in </a></b></a>ankaret's journal about the age of lj users, I present a graph put together from the raw data, which truncates all the most common years (and goes beyond the maximum and minimum that the official page presents). Note the very-young and very-old users in particular…

Ooooh, interesting - thank you! I suspect the five-year-olds are people who don't put a year of birth, so it comes out as 00 and the system interprets it as 2000.

I have to admit, if I were a 56-year-old LJer and was treated as nonexistent by the official page, I'd be kind of miffed.

I think that bulge at 45 might be the evidence you want for roleplayers … 1960 is the HP Lexicon year for Snape, Lily Evans, and the Maurauders' birthdays.

Notice there's a big or little peak at lots of 5n years. It's like a fairly normal normal, plus (or times, or function combination) with a sawtooth...

There's nothing obvious in HP fandom to explain that one.

Probably all those people who have a date picker that starts dates at 1900.

It's my year of choice when confronted by sites that attempt to evade the privacy laws.

Mmm, I have some feeling there's a problem with journals belonging to small children, which resulted in me not putting in an age for K.

Hmm. Not enough people putting their date of birth down as the epoch.
