2005/03/17 09:39:00 - *sigh*
So, following my previous entry on the subject </a></b></a>emperor just fielded a phone call from Cambridgeshire Constabulary on my behalf in which they complain that I haven't replied to their notification that the date is actually this coming Monday.

This causes me to wonder about the advisability of sending out notices on Weds 9th March via first class post and expecting a reply by second class post before 9:30am on Thursday 17th March (even considering that I sent my reply return-of-post)…

Also, why when they have two daytime phone numbers for me (work and mobile) did they phone home (and disturb my housemate)?

If it's any consolation, the postie just turned up with a parcel for you that wouldn't fit through the postbox, so I'm fielding a lot of things this morning (err, except work).

8 days is well within tolerances assuming the post office don't drop the letter on the floor altogether, IMHO. (But maybe Cambridge is slower or worse, and perhaps if they want instant turnaround something other than snailmail would be better.)

Perhaps they would have sent it out sooner if they weren't the sort of people who can accidentally get the month wrong when trying to organise a criminal trial. (Their handwritten note on the letter about the court not sitting on a Saturday seems obviously bogus - perhaps that's how they noticed they had got the date wrong, but howTF could they not have known at the time whether their court runs at weekends?)
