I think paid members who don't read paidmembers probably deserve to lose.

To save the rest of us from quadruply duplicated announcements in our friends lists. Must be even *more* irritating for those that aren't paid members...

Because there exists a perfectly good high S:N ratio low-traffic community for announcements of this sort. If people choose not to use it, that's their look out IMAO.

Perhaps (excepting the incessently curious like me who simply don't consider 5% to be a good S:N ratio (statistic achieved by reading last 40 entries in paidmembers)) this may be because the "perfectly good high S:N ratio low-traffic community for announcements of this sort" isn't actually advertised anywhere; nor does it get added to your friendslist when you become a paid member; nor do they tell you about it in email ... (all of these statements true as of when I became a Paid Member).....

Perhaps because people who aren't paid members might be interested, too....

Indeed – paidmembers generally doesn't contain much of interest to me, and I'm generally irritated by the way LJ usually don't just give these things to those who are eligible, they always make you notice and apply in some way.
